In March 2020, our world turned upside-down as we began to comprehend the seriousness of the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to shelter-in-place orders, many small businesses were forced to close their doors to the public. That's when we saw an opportunity in the darkness. We started The Local Box Shop to safely support the small businesses, artists, and makers struggling to stay afloat in our Bay Area community.
The Local Box Shop makes gift-giving easy and meaningful.
We make it easy by curating locally-sourced gift boxes for every occasion and budget. Our Local Boxes are available exclusively online so you can send personalized gifts from the safety of your own home.
We make it meaningful by prioritizing diverse business partners who need our support now more than ever. We are proud to support more than 25 small businesses, many of which are women-owned, black-owned, immigrant-owned, and POC-owned. Plus, every box includes products from multiple makers so you can easily spread your dollars around to those who need them most.
Join us in supporting local businesses one box at a time.
MEET OUR FOUNDER
I have always believed in the power of community. When we know our neighbors by name, when we truly see and honor one another, we are compelled to care for each other. We become invested in the place we call home, driven to uphold respect, equity, and justice for our neighbors.
Small businesses are an essential part of that feeling of community. During the shelter-in-place orders due to COVID-19, I saw many of my favorite small businesses struggling to stay afloat. Drawing on my background in marketing and communications, I started The Local Box Shop as a way to honor and support the artists, creators, and small businesses that imbue our communities with uniqueness.
In addition to managing The Local Box Shop, I am a dedicated environmental professional with a background in wildlife conservation, marine resource management, environmental education, and sustainable tourism. In my free time, you'll find me hiking with my fiancé, listening to podcasts, trying out new Ottolenghi recipes, and crafting.
